The "Molten Custard Mooncake Gift Box" is a special Mid-Autumn creation from Matinal Design Office (mdo), an exclusive brand by our office.

The inspiration for this project came from receiving a handmade molten custard mooncake from a friend last year, whose flavor we found exceptional. This led us to commission the same baker to create mooncakes in our own brand shapes for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, giving rise to this project!

From the mooncake shapes to the packaging design, everything was planned and coordinated by our team. The gift box visuals center on a rabbit from our office gazing at the moon, with the lunar surface depicted using a dot gradient to express the soft glow and the festive Mid-Autumn atmosphere. The mooncakes themselves feature a minimalist rabbit shape combined with the brand’s signature “m,” echoing the rabbit looking at the moon on the outer box. The inner box carries the slogan "bunny's light, mid-autumn bright" to tie together the overall concept.

The mooncakes were baked by pastry chef Yiyin Lin, while the molds were designed and developed by professional product designer Coby Huang. The process involved extensive testing and challenges, but the final result is extremely satisfying—a project that was both challenging and full of fun!
