The Chiayi Literature Museum is housed in the historic wooden structure of the former Tōmon Police Station, which boasts over a century of history. The museum officially opened in June 2025.

Matinal Design developed the brand identity system for Chiayi Literature Museum: Tōmonchō 1923, drawing inspiration from the elegance and strength found in the sweeping strokes of traditional calligraphy. These qualities were reinterpreted with contemporary lines to create the logotype, conveying the museum’s foundation in history and its role in showcasing literary works that span both classical and modern eras.
The brand’s color palette is derived from the building’s distinctive architectural elements—roof tiles, blue walls, cypress wood, and earthen finishes—paying homage to the structure’s original form while highlighting the unique charm of this historic site.
